September Update! The Monster Apocalypse is Coming!!
So in mid-August I started querying literary agents about my new YA fantasy novel OVER THE RAINBOW, and so far the response has been great. A month into the querying process my book is out to nearly twenty people! It's been really exciting, but I'm still very much in the waiting game, and I'm so thankful I've had a new project to work on while I wait to hear back on Over the Rainbow.
Nearly a year ago I started working on a new YA trilogy, and this week I complete the first draft of the third and final book, THE MONSTER APOCALYPSE! It's been a blast writing the Grisly Trilogy and truly have the best in store for all of you with the final installment, which is, by far, the most insane, action-packed, entertaining scarefest I've ever put down to paper. Unlike anything I've written, even the tension-filled, apocalyptic HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, this one starts in the same second that THE ZOMBIE PLAYGROUND ends, and never stops moving for three hundred pages. I just started writing the final eight chapters tonight, and I'm ecstatic to bring this three-book story to a close.
I'm going to take a short one-week break next week (I'm headed to Washington DC for the first time ever and attending a wedding nearby!) and then will commence on the second draft soon after I get back. I'm bound and determined to get THE MONSTER APOCALYPSE out by mid-December, so I'll be working real hard on the second, third, and fourth drafts these next two months. I can't wait to see what you all think!
And remember, Halloween is just around the corner, so while you wait for the third book of my YA horror trilogy, be sure to check out the first two installments, both available on Amazon for the Kindle and in Paperback!

And then there's the finale! Vampires, zombies, werewolves, aliens, ghosts, demons, witches, and MORE!!!

August Update... and 100th Post!
I'm sorry things have been so quiet here at the blog!
I've been busy, I promise. Like really busy. Teaching, taking classes, shooting videos, reading and reviewing books for my other blog, querying and pitching literary agents.
Most of all? Writing, writing, writing, writing!
Since March I've been working on a really special YA fantasy novel OVER THE RAINBOW that is currently being considered by agents (cross your fingers for me!), and on Monday I began writing the third and final book of the Grisly High trilogy, THE MONSTER APOCALYPSE! Arriving just in time for Christmas, the final chapter of this YA horror series is going to be the most insanely awesome installment of all.
And I've got lots of projects coming up even after that! I'm mulling over a prequel to HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME about Liesel's unconventional upbringing, I'm outlining a comedic gay YA novel about a videographer, and I'm even considering writing my first ever MIDDLE GRADE book!
So for now, I'm going to leave you with this: the storyline of OVER THE RAINBOW! So far I've only given you four words: Lesbians. The Rapture. Dinosaurs.
Now here's a bit more. Enjoy!
Sixteen-year-old Zippy Green never meant to fall in love with a girl, but when she does, her ultra conservative father tries to send her to anti-gay camp. But at the Kansas City airport, she hides inside a giant suitcase and sneaks onto an airplane headed not to the camp, but to Seattle, where her online love Mira lives. Halfway through the flight, the plane barrels out of control and crashes into the ground, knocking Zippy unconscious. When she awakens, she finds that most of the passengers have vanished. She doesn’t know what’s happened, but she’s determined to find out.
Zippy begins a quest on foot toward Seattle, and along the way, she meets an exchange student with a concussion, a homeless man with a heart condition, a child without a shred of bravery, and a terrier named Judy. The group discovers that more than two thirds of the world’s population has ascended to the sky and disappeared. Having grown up in a religious household, Zippy thinks what’s happened is the rapture, but others think it’s an alien invasion or a gravitational pull.
In the end all Zippy wants is to find her Mira, but before she can she has to contend with two outside forces. The first is her homophobic father, who survives the mysterious exodus and does everything in his power to keep her from the girl she loves. And the second is extinct creatures of all shapes and sizes, from dodo birds to dinosaurs, which have replaced the missing population.
ZIPPY. IS. COMING.

June Update!
Hello all!
How has June been for all of you? It's been a VERY busy month for me.
Not only have I started a new book blog with my friend Shaunta called Story Carnivores, updated daily, where we review books and movies, discuss writing, interview authors, vlog, and lots more, but I also finished the first draft of a new TOP SECRET YA novel, and I'm currently finishing the final draft of THE ZOMBIE PLAYGROUND, Book 2 in the Grisly High series. Zombie Playground is almost done and will be available for the Kindle by the end of next week! Look for the cover reveal here in just a few short days.
I'm also going on a super exciting adventure toward the end of July, and I'll have more details about that in a few weeks. And in July I'll start the second draft of my newest original project, which is easily the most daring, unusual (and certainly my favorite) book I've ever written. I can't wait to tell you more about it later this year, but for now, I'll give you five words to whet your appetite.
Gay Love.
Dinosaurs.
The Rapture.
